About us

About VOTE Africa

VOTE Africa is a non-partisan, youth-focused initiative designed to
address the pervasive challenges of voter apathy, limited civic education,
and weak electoral accountability across African democracies. Launching
in Nigeria in January 2026, the organization seeks to build a new
generation of informed, active citizens committed to making elections
popular, inclusive, free, fair, and credible, while holding elected leaders
accountable for delivering good governance across the continent.

About the Founder

Daberechi Kingsley Ekejiuba

Founder and Executive Director, VOTE Africa

Daberechi Kingsley Ekejiuba is a civic engagement strategist with over seven years of experience in youth mobilization and democratic governance. He has led several movements advocating for electoral integrity and government accountability.
He partnered with Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register over 85,000 voters and mobilize over 3 million voters across four geopolitical zones in Nigeria in 2023.

He has hosted civic programs for persons with disability and promoted free and fair elections in highly polarized and vulnerable places, working with stakeholders to reduce election-related violence by 60% in two Nigerian states.
Through the Walk to Good Governance initiative, he has empowered more than 100 young leaders as good governance champions, with advocacy efforts contributing to the retrofitting of 200 primary healthcare centers across 184 wards in Abia State and the establishment of local government autonomy in Nigeria.

He is an alumnus of the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG), a mathematics graduate from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Nexford University.
Daberechi is a member of FixPolitics Africa and Catalyst Now. He also holds certificates in entrepreneurship and leadership.
He is a fellow of the Young Innovation Leaders Fellowship (YIL), Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers (I-FAIR), the Emerging Political Leaders Fellowship (EPLF), and the Mandela Washington Fellowship.

Daberechi does not just believe in the dream of a greater Nigeria and Africa; he works wholeheartedly to make his vision of an egalitarian society—where elections are free and fair, and citizens (especially young people) are empowered to participate in democratic processes—a reality. He is driving this vision through VOTE AFRICA
